Part of Army analysts’ jobs is to look for historical data to “add contextual value” to current images, said Mark Sarojak, BAE Systems’ director of sales and marketing for GXP. “In talking with the analysts and their leadership, it’s clear that looking for historical data is taking up to 50 percent of their time or more, which is too time-intensive, so the Army’s looking to solve that problem by adding GXP Xplorer.” Instead of searching individual databases, GXP allows analysts to search all Army databases simultaneously with one query.

Straightforward technology for creating geospatial workflows generates increasing demand for SOCET GXP, SOCET SET and GXP Xplorer software.

Dr. A. Stewart Walker, GXP director, product initiatives, expresses the broad appeal conveyed by multiple user types for new GXP software. Dan London, vice president of sales, marketing, and support for the Geospatial eXploitation Products® business talks about GXP Xplorer®, a new data discovery and retrieval application.

He explains that GXP Xplorer is different from other products on the market today that require users to access multiple data stores. “Most systems out there are looking at building a super data store, and we all know that’s not realistic. There are multiple data stores that exist in the marketplace today, and it’s never going to happen where they’re all eliminated into one super data store” London says. “The product we built allows you to leave the imagery where it is, leave the data stores where they are, and we simply catalog the data where it is so that the users can hit multiple data stores with one query.

GXP Xplorer is ideal for military, DoD, intelligence, and commercial customers, including map builders or others who have a large repository of maps, imagery, document files, and other data.

GXP customers are encouraged to attend free training classes to learn about equivalent SOCET SET® functionality and workflows in SOCET GXP®.

Drew Fisher, director of sales for the GXP® Americas region, provides an overview of the transition plan for SOCET SET® customers who have not yet migrated to SOCET GXP®. Many people have heard about SOCET GXP eXtreme Analysis workflows and automated processes. Fisher encourages current customers to attend free training classes to see, first-hand, the value of moving to SOCET GXP. BAE Systems offers free training for current SOCET SET customers who are eager to learn more about the transition, or for novice SOCET GXP customers who need to get up and running quickly. New regional training centers are now open across the U.S., and a new training center is coming soon to Cambridge, U.K.

Current SOCET SET end users can experiment with demo versions of SOCET GXP® in their environments and work with BAE Systems to communicate the photogrammetric processes they would like to see in future versions of SOCET GXP.

Nigel Lambton, director of sales and marketing for the GXP® EMEA region, reviews new photogrammetric and geospatial analysis highlights in SOCET SET v5.5 including terrain tools, advanced data sharing, sensor models, and Next-generation Automatic Terrain Extraction (NGATE) enhancements. NGATE can now create bare-earth digital terrain and surface models simultaneously. A new algorithm automatically filters out unwanted features from the model. Nigel also discusses how BAE Systems makes it easy for non-photogrammetrists to learn SOCET GXP eXtreme Analysis™ software. Many complex photogrammetric processes such as aspect and slope analysis, terrain profiling, and line-of-sight analysis are automated in SOCET GXP.

Government and commercial customers use one product, SOCET GXP, for efficient image analysis, geospatial analysis, targeting and GIS workflows.

SOCET GXP’s spatially enabled exploitation, or SEE functionality, enables image analysts to take full advantage of the ESRI® geodatabase to tighten workflows and shorten timelines. XPL, a new product in the works for SOCET GXP, is a data library and search tool that helps organizations manage data on local workstations, over a network, or across the enterprise.

SOCET GXP combines image analysis and geospatial production in one product

At the GEOINT Symposium 2008 in Nashville, Tennessee, BAE Systems unveiled its latest technology, including a new benchmark for accomplishing image analysis and geospatial production in one comprehensive product – SOCET GXP. SOCET GXP v3.0 is a geospatial-intelligence software product that features image analysis, geospatial production, GIS, remote sensing, targeting, and MASINT tools in a single software application.

BAE Systems product managers and application engineers traveled from their offices to the Mideast war zones to train government field analysts on the company’s SOCET GXP software.

The trip was part of BAE Systems’ formal partnership with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Deployable Systems (NDS) Program Office and upgrade team.
