‘From IA to GA – and Everything in Between’ as featured in Geospatial Solutions

The story of BAE Systems’ SOCET GXP (Geospatial eXploitation Products) software package began five years ago. That’s when the company began combining aspects of its existing photogrammetry and image analysis (IA) packages — SOCET SET and VITec — with GIS, multispectral, targeting, and other capabilities necessary for geospatial analysis (GA) and production. Dan London, vice president of sales and marketing for BAE Systems, explained that “the goal is to span the entire IA–GA market; [to create] a single user interface that addresses the entire market.

SOCET GXP® software “probably the most buzzed about product news at GEOINT 2008.”

SOCET GXP eXtreme Analysis software is described on the United States Geospatial-Intelligence Foundation’s got geoint? Web site as “probably the most buzzed about product news at GEOINT 2008.” SOCET GXP combines image analysis and geospatial production tools into a single application for diverse uses — from finding beach landing sites for combat troops to helping land Mars Rover.

SOCET GXP® software is recognized as a key technology for transitioning to the future by Geospatial solutions in their GEOINT 2008 conference review.

Geospatial Solutions Web site reviews GEOINT 2008. BAE Systems created a significant buzz at GEOINT 2008 — including strong mention by a keynote speaker, Maj. Gen. John M. Custer — with its new SOCET GXP® software for eXtreme Analysis.

BAE Systems hosting media briefing on geospatial-intelligence analysis

BAE Systems is hosting a media briefing to demonstrate new technology for automated geospatial-intelligence analysis and reporting. Media representatives are invited to a one-hour demonstration of the company’s SOCET GXP® v3.0 software, which gives infrastructure managers, first responders, and deployed forces wide-ranging new tools for operational planning, change detection, and situational analysis.

BAE Systems analyses from the ground up

BAE Systems’ Rob Stout describes how a team of analysts detected the level of destruction caused by the tsunami in Banda Aceh using BAE Systems’ SOCET GXP software. When a devastating tsunami hit Bandah Aceh, Indonesia, and the surrounding area a few years ago, the destruction was unprecedented. Eyewitnesses compared the disaster to that of Hiroshima, Japan, after it was hit by an atomic bomb during World War II.

‘SOCET GXP v3.0: Geospatial-Intelligence Software’ featured in January/February issue of GEOinformatics

In the past few decades, the GIS industry has feasted on a proliferation of specialty software packages designed to accomplish every task imaginable to increase productivity. Technology has taken the tradecraft from tenured professionals, leaving them little choice but to become proficient with a myriad of computer-based tools and devices to stay competitive. With so many options, new paradigms to digest, and long hours logged to learn new products, it was only a matter of time until a next-generation software package would make its debut, eclipsing those that came before it to introduce a new way of working with geospatial data: SOCET GXP v3.0.
