GEOINT Symposium 2009 day one: BAE Systems showcases high-performance SOCET GXP® technology

BAE Systems showcases high-performance SOCET GXP technology at GEOINT Symposium 2009

BAE Systems’ Geospatial eXploitation Products team demonstrates eXtreme Analysis software developments this week at the GEOINT Symposium in San Antonio, TX.

The SOCET GXP v3.1 release scheduled for later this fall includes new analysis tools for video, terrain, and hyperspectral and multispectral processing. Other features include OGC-compliant Web services tools; the new Xport for real-time image visualization and analysis; and XPL, an application for data discovery and management.

The SOCET GXP application addresses many of today’s show themes, which include the need for: innovation in the geospatial community, automated feature extraction tools, managing the volumes of information we already have, and rapid implementation of Web services.

Record Attendance Highlights Industry Advance

“With attendance projected to reach an all-time high, the GEOINT 2009 Symposium formally opening this morning in San Antonio, Texas, marks a major advance not only for the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation, but also for the industry as a whole, according to USGIF President Keith J. Masback.

… As for accelerating innovation, Masback explained, the foundation is seeking new ways to bring people together and foster sharing of ideas. For example, the organization has sponsored a number of smaller workshops on specific topics, such as a recent event focused on synthetic aperture radar. Moreover, the search for innovation is innovative itself, with USGIF exploring social media and Web 2.0 to reach out.”

Golfers kickoff GEOINT 2009

“Sunday morning 144 golfers teed off in the USGIF Alder Golf Classic at Quarry Golf Club just north of downtown San Antonio. This kickoff event for GEOINT 2009 generates proceeds that help fund the annual scholarships USGIF provides to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students pursuing education excellence in fields related to the geospatial intelligence tradecraft.”
