A sensor model is an algorithmic representation of a sensor in its state at the time of image collection. The algorithm accounts for refraction, position, orientation, velocity, and what the light does inside the satellite before hitting the sensor array. It calculates the transformation between 3-D ground space and image line and sample coordinate points, and vice versa. Every image has unique sensor model parameters that reflect the location and orientation of the sensor at the time the image was collected. The sensor model is native to the image’s support mensuration functions.
